50 hours of music, by accident

I have once heard of the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize but back then, for some reason, I missed the opportunity to explore it more deeply. As I read about it recently - in connection with the 2026 award given to the giant Jordi Savall - I decided it was time.

Somewhere along the way, the answer turned into a musical expedition.

Starting with the prize’s remarkable list of laureates I eventually built not one but three listening journeys:

  • The Doors Open — familiar ways into extraordinary music;
  • New Ways of Hearing — where the language begins to change;
  • At the Frontier — music that asks the ears to venture further.

This time, I added complete works rather than excerpts. The result: more than 50 hours of music I mostly don’t fully know yet.

Quite a great outcome for a question I asked out of curiosity.
