# 50 hours of music, by accident

I have once heard of the [*Ernst von Siemens Music Prize*](https://evs-musikstiftung.ch/en/?ref=sheilamaceira.com) but back then, for some reason, I missed the opportunity to explore it more deeply. As I read about it recently - in connection with the [2026 award given to the giant Jordi Savall](https://evs-musikstiftung.ch/en/music-prize/jordi-savall/jordi-savall-biography/?ref=sheilamaceira.com) \- I decided it was time.

Somewhere along the way, the answer turned into a musical expedition.

Starting with the prize’s remarkable list of laureates I eventually built not one but three listening journeys:

- **The Doors Open** — familiar ways into extraordinary music;
- **New Ways of Hearing** — where the language begins to change;
- **At the Frontier** — music that asks the ears to venture further.

This time, I added complete works rather than excerpts. The result: more than **50 hours of music I mostly don’t fully know yet**.

Quite a great outcome for a question I asked out of curiosity.
